Predicted output
The preview assumes Leona triggers after every successful stun and you choose to buff Riven if another queued ability needs a buff. Select the order in which the two Riven effects resolve (the chain itself is last-in, first-out). Targets, other chain interactions, and legal exhausts still need to be checked in your actual game.
Key rules
Ready does not mean stun-ready: For a later reaction exhaust to produce a Stun, Riven must also be able to pay the buff cost when that mode resolves, and the Stun mode must be available at that time (mode availability refreshes on the opponent’s turn).
Riven's buff is spent on resolution, not at mode selection. Because the abilities enter the chain together, choose the order in which they resolve. Leona's stun-triggered buff can resolve between the two pending Riven abilities.
Standard Moves exhaust Riven and normally go Base ↔ Battlefield. A move to a new battlefield after conquering another typically requires returning to Base first. Each copied ability tracks its used modes separately.
Buffless limitation: Two Buff → Ready exhausts consume both Buff and both Ready choices. On the third exhaust only the two Stun modes remain, and with 0 buffs neither stun can succeed without additional buff generation. Avoid treating this as a standalone triple-move, double-stun combo.
Buff limit: Riven can have at most 1 buff. To end ready and buffed, resolve Ready first (1 → 0), then Buff (0 → 1). Chain order can effectively preserve a buff across payments, but never puts 2 buffs on her at once.
Opponent’s turn: modes refresh on the opponent’s turn. You do not need to preserve an unused Stun mode from your turn to use it then. You still need a buff when the Stun instruction resolves, and a legal way to exhaust Riven as a reaction.
Two Rivens: double stun
Separate setup, no Svellsongur required. Two copies of Riven, Broken Blade are exhausted at the same time. One starts with 1 buff, the other with 0. You control Leona, Radiant Dawn, and there are two legal enemy units to stun.
The crucial distinction is that the Spend my buff instruction is paid when its chain item resolves. This permits both Rivens to choose Stun even though only Riven A initially has a buff.
Riven A (starts with 1 buff)
Riven B (starts with 0 buffs)
Chain resolution order
- Riven A's Stun resolves first: spend A's starting buff (1 → 0), stunning enemy 1.
- Leona resolves: give Riven B a buff (0 → 1) while B's Stun is still waiting on the chain.
- Riven B's Stun resolves: spend the newly received buff (1 → 0), stunning enemy 2.
Chain setup: Put B's Stun on the chain first, then A's Stun, so A resolves first (last in, first out). Leona's trigger goes above the still-pending B trigger. Important: a normal Standard Move only exhausts the unit being moved. This double-stun line requires an actual effect or action that legally exhausts both Rivens simultaneously, not two separate Standard Moves.
| Point in resolution | Riven A buffs | Riven B buffs | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start | 1 | 0 | Both Stun modes selected |
| A resolves | 0 | 0 | First enemy stunned; Leona triggers |
| Leona resolves | 0 | 1 | Buff handed to B |
| B resolves | 0 | 0 | Second enemy stunned |
Final result: 2 enemies stunned and both Rivens exhausted. The second stun creates one more Leona trigger, which you can use to put a buff on either Riven or another eligible friendly unit.
Assumptions: both exhaust triggers occur simultaneously, Leona's trigger can buff Riven B, and there are valid targets. The second stun may itself create another Leona trigger, which can put a buff on a legal friendly unit afterward.
